Rainbow Six Extraction Review
Rainbow Six Extraction is a spin-off from Rainbow Six Siege's popular Outbreak mode, which saw Tom Clancy's operators fending off aliens instead of each other. Well, Extraction is a tactical FPS that builds on what made Outbreak great by repurposing Siege's PvP prowess into a moreish Left 4 Dead-style horde mode. But with microtransactions galore and rock-bottom levels of polish, Ubisoft need to polish up the problems in their own backyard before starting again here. Is Rainbow Six Extraction worth playing? What Is Rainbow Six: Extraction?
Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Siege was a hit at launch and ever since, publisher Ubisoft has been looking for ways to further monetize it. However, given how awesome Siege is and how people love it, if you’re going to squeeze money out of people by making them pay for extra content, then you better make sure that said content is top-notch—right? That’s exactly what Ubisoft Montreal did with Rainbow Six: Extraction.
Pros and Cons
Rainbow Six Extraction is a tactical FPS with some real punch to it. As an add-on to Rainbow Six Siege, it’s a fun distraction that doesn’t really offer much in terms of new tactical experiences or weaponry. But if you love PvP and get bored after sinking all your time into Siege and its competitive offerings, there’s plenty here to keep you engrossed until Ubisoft bring out more content for Siege.
The Bottom Line
If you like competitive, multiplayer-focused games and have a Rainbow Six Siege account with access to Outbreak mode, then Rainbow Six: Siege: Extraction is a no-brainer. It's not one of Ubisoft's best tactical shooters, but it's still Rainbow Six through and through. If you don't play Siege often or are bored by PvP modes, then you may be better off just grabbing another tactical shooter instead.
