Conqueror's Blade Game Review

Conqueror's Blade is the latest game by Chinese studio Booming Games, and it has quickly become one of the most popular MMORTSs in China, with more than 20 million players worldwide. But how well does this game stand up to other MMORTSs like League of Legends, Age of Empires II HD, or Total War? And how can you play Conqueror's Blade on your PC or laptop? Let’s take a look at what makes this game special in our full review.

User Interface

Conqueror’s Blade has a really intuitive interface, so if you’re a veteran MMO player, you’ll probably find it easy to grasp its concepts. There are a couple of key differences between CB and other MMORTS games that might take some getting used to. The first is that rather than managing base construction and troop placement yourself, you have to choose your Commander from one of three different class trees (Assault/Defense/Recon) and upgrade each ability individually as they level up through battle experience. Each tree has five basic abilities (attack, defensive maneuver, speed boost, etc.) which can be leveled up using XP earned in battle or by paying gold which is acquired via either gameplay or microtransactions.

In-Game Store

Players can purchase premium accounts and gold with real money, as well as non-essential items such as pets for their characters. Conqueror’s Blade does not offer any competitive advantages to paying players, meaning that F2P accounts can successfully complete raids and other endgame content. Premium accounts allow you to get bonus experience and faster growth when paired with a daily questing system, but do not grant access to any additional content in game.

How to Play

Play This Game

Conqueror’s Blade is very similar to other free-to-play MMORPGs like Vindictus or Guild Wars 2, but it also brings something unique to genre: more strategy. This game is a real-time tactics game, which means you have a lot of control over your troops as you move around a three-dimensional map. You can position your troops anywhere and set orders for them to follow before each battle.

Combat Mechanics

Combat in Conqueror’s Blade is fairly straightforward, with all your troops acting as one unit. You click to move, and they move; you click to attack, and they attack. This can take some getting used to if you’re used to games where characters have their own sets of abilities or levels.

Graphics & Sound

The graphics in Conqueror’s Blade are stunning. The landscapes and siege engines in particular, look great, but even characters have a fair amount of detail that you wouldn’t expect from a mobile game. The sound effects are also well done, but I found some to be way too loud and intrusive during battles. It was also frustrating that some sounds don’t play until several seconds after an action is completed.

Final Thoughts

Conqueror’s Blade is a fun, tactical MMO that fans of strategy games should definitely check out. While there are some flaws to be found, Conqueror’s Blade is an engaging game with enough depth to keep players occupied for hours at a time. From its deep level of customization options and massive multiplayer battles to its stellar soundtrack and control schemes, Conqueror’s Blade offers something for every fan of online strategy gaming. If you love commanding armies and strategizing with other players over incredible tactical battles, don’t hesitate to give Conqueror’s Blade a try; but if you prefer turn-based gaming, it might not be for you.
